Artist Statement

I create sculptures with found materials and video which aim to capture fleeting, ephemeral moments in time in order to investigate my personal physical transience and consider the past, present and future of both my piece and of myself.

The processes of time are key to my work as I explore ways in which natural forces, processes and the laws of physics dictate outcomes that are one-directional and unpreventable, often using my body as part of the ephemeral material and sculptural object.  The concept of entropy as a measure of chaos and disorder beyond human control is interesting to me.

I am conscious that during the brief moment of their existence my works are imbued with something of the present in which they are made, in other words the essence of something that is viewable only for that brief moment, before the present becomes the past or the ‘has been’.
